personal rapid transit system: a solution for cities
dr. waheed uddin is a professor at the university of mississippi and an expert in civil engineering. he, along with his son usman uddin and a team of graduate students, have come up with the idea of the personal rapid transit system after comparing several smaller urban areas in the u.s. to the much larger cities. dr. uddin and his team found that the carbon waste per capita in the mega cities (new york city, las angeles, and chicago) was much lower than it was in smaller, but still urban southern cities (montgomery, jackson, baton rouge). dr. uddin’s idea would take many cars needed for a daily commute out of the picture and thus cutting down of green house gasses.
