i grew up in the colombian andes, where deforestation and species loss triggered my passion for ecological restoration. after moving to california, i became a wildlife specialist and later shifted my focus to marine ecosystems after a life-changing dive on gorgona island. my research now focuses on understanding how marine ecosystems respond to climate change and creating refuges to protect the remaining living species, in the hope that humanity will eventually reduce its nefarious influence on the environment. i have collaborated in projects related to reef fish behavior, wildlife monitoring, and conservation and restoration of ecological habitats with innovative approaches.
