darcy gentleman

darcy joined planet forward in november 2024 as the education lead. he first collaborated in 2019-2020 while teaching science communications as an adjunct professor of chemistry at gwu. darcy started his science storytelling career at the lab bench. the first planetary science b.sc. from the university of toronto (1999), he then earned a ph.d. in analytical chemistry at arizona state university (2003), conducting nasa-funded ocean chemistry research.

darcy has had roles in publications, science policy, youtube programming, and stakeholder engagement, working at the american chemical society and the u.s. pharmacopeia. as a consultant, he has collaborated on art-science with the national academy of sciences and coached presentations across the public and private sectors.

when he’s not consuming or writing stories, darcy keeps in shape through distance running and yoga, enjoys travel and cuisine, and plays trivia and crosswords. he lives in charlottesville, va, with his wife, silvia, and their 4 year-old dog, tallulah.
