devon loves her water bottle. it's big, green, and covered in stickers. its a conversation starter, and so is she.
she is currently a junior at the suny college of environmental science and forestry. she is studying for her b.s. in environmental studies with a concentration in communication and society, as well as a minor in environmental writing and rhetoric. having grown up in the suburbs of new york city, a little in a town in connecticut and even less, but more importantly, in the adirondacks, she has fallen in love with the environment and all its facets. she has been inspired by all of her parents to love the great outdoors, since the day she was put on their shoulders and carried through the woods.
she believes that everyone should care about the environment because the environment cares for them. no matter where you are, the city, a suburb or the wilderness, you are surrounded by nature, and that is a beautiful thing.
after she graduates, devon hopes to either pursue a career at national geographic (her childhood fantasy), or follow a newfound passion of natural disaster relief to where ever it may bring her.
a fun fact about devon is that when she was only a few months old, her mother was carrying her on a hike and was startled by a turkey, who caused her to trip. she in turn squished baby devon, resulting in an early skull fracture. it's ok though, devon credits this as the moment that began her very unconventional environmental education.
