i am a texas tech graduate student and freelance photographer based in lubbock, texas. i developed an interest in photography at an early age. spending much of my life outdoors hiking, cycling, hunting, fishing, and traveling with my family and friends, i gained an appreciation of the beauty in the natural world.
growing up my information about the world around me initially came from images. powerful ones like those from 9/11, the explosion of the space shuttle columbia, the invasion of iraq, and much more. images told me the stories i had a hard time reading. i am dyslexic and reading was a challenge until i was nine. i consider dyslexia a gift that has given me a unique perspective into photography and a special appreciation for photojournalism.
