kim is the associate director and former senior managing editor for planet forward. she joined the team as temporary help for the 2015 summit and quickly decided she just wasn’t going to leave because she fell in love with the team and the project. thankfully, planet forward needed her to stick around too, so that all worked out. these days you’ll find her wrangling interns and the annual cohort of correspondents, sorting through story pitches, editing pieces in all mediums, and managing the website, plus helping with events, and likely nerding out over the latest awful ap style change.
kim comes from a journalism background, having worked for 5 years at her local paper as a page designer and copy editor, and later for many years at a news wire, where she helped create special sections to target newspapers’ growing need for outside content (hello, layoffs) on different subjects including, naturally, the green section, which included features about the environment.
her love of the environment began as a child, between growing veggies in her family garden and composting leftovers, to learning about this exciting new program her city launched when she was in elementary school, called — wait for it — “recycling.” when not plotting her annual garden, you’ll likely find kim obsessing over photo gear and editing pictures of the sunset, kayaking and taking pictures of said sunset, or being crafty.
