i am laura augenbraun, a senior undergraduate student at the university of connecticut majoring in journalism and mathematics. i am from sandy hook, ct and found my passion for covering environmental issues in high school while learning about deforestation in the amazon rainforest. since then, my written and published articles largely focus on environmental issues. after graduation i intend to pursue a position that incorporates data analysis, writing, and communication within the environmental field, focusing on the impact of climate change.
outside of class i enjoy writing articles related to local environmental issues as well as international relations and events. i am an active member of alpha epsilon phi, where i'm involved in multiple fundraising and volunteering efforts for both local and national philanthropic organizations. i have a passion for traveling and was a student ambassador representing uconn at the 2022 united nations climate change conference, cop27, in sharm el-sheikh, egypt. i also recently studied abroad in the netherlands and created a blog to write about my travel experiences throughout europe!
