mckenzie allen-charmley is an dena'ina athabascan and black journalist from anchorage, alaska. she is pursuing a career in broadcast journalism to inspire young native & black girls and to help create the foundation of a journalistic evolution that values representation, authenticity and accuracy above all else. it is also her mission to become a vantage point in the newsroom that people come to for clarity and as a resource when it comes to telling indigenous stories. she will graduate in may 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in business. mckenzie is currently a broadcast reporter for cronkite news/arizona pbs as well as a fellow for both naja and planetforward for 2021-2022. she has previously worked for cnbc, the city of phoenix, as well as a fellow for the henry luce foundation reporting on underserved indigenous communities.
