i am a junior at northwestern university studying journalism and environmental policy. i grew up in a commuting suburb of new york city — okay, fine — new jersey. my interest in the environment stems from a life-changing class i took my senior year of high school. my teacher, who formerly worked with nasa, encouraged us to think of climate change in terms of adaptation, creativity and social justice. i care about the environment because environmental issues are human issues, period. after i leave campus, i hope to pursue a reporting fellowship at a publication oriented toward urban issues and sustainability. check out this map of new york city’s shadows by season!
