currently, electric vehicles are still failing to catch on. however, i think i might have an idea that would bring public interest back to the electric vehicle. my definition of any ev is the ability to be “self-charged” by sunlight. i never believe in any ev that is tethered too close to home or any charging station. to free the ev of this reliability on charging, my idea is to use solar telescopic masts for a continuous charge. although the visual appearance of the ev would change significantly, this innovation would supply continuous power and radically change the way we think about evs. watch this clip to find out how it can work with already available technology on hand.

the issue with campground campfires

campfires pollute air so much that animals avoid the retching smells associated with smoke. smoke interferes with animals’ sense of smell for foraging as well as security. there are so many people using fires that animals are already cooped up or confined to far-away areas thus increasing competition for the remaining terrority. i don’t know if propane is acceptable as substitute for firewood, but electricity is far more preferable. i think that campgrounds can be outfitted with solar panels and storage batteries for cooking as a first priority and heat as a secondary priority. campers are supposed to tough it out with warm clothes. humans lost much of their body hair from over-dependence on fires over thousands of years and it is time to get hair back on. i don’t understand why humans tolerate needless smoke in their faces.

hybrid car without first and second gears

i have an idea for a new kind of hybrid car that uses the same parts but eliminates low gears (first and second shifts) in any transmissions found in today’s hybrid cars. i noticed that hybrid cars still use first and second gears, something which no longer makes any sense to me because there is already an electric motor/generator commonly found in hybrid cars today. in the video, i explain how my changes to the hybrid car’s transmission would work and how this would impact the environment. sign language is featured by the narrator in this video with subtitles throughout.

heliostat home heater

a heliostat is a special mirror with a guidance device that can keep sunlight reflected toward the same target all day without straying off-target. it is just a mirror but you need to keep it trained on the same spot for it to work. it is a bit like a telescope with a tracking device, so that you don’t need to move your telescope every minute or the moon or jupiter will move out of your sight as earth rotates. well, the same thing happens to solar energy when the sun moves across the sky and the heliostat must keep readjusting itself to keep the beneficial sunlight trained toward the intended target. as far as the intended target goes, it can be anything that you want. it can be much hotter or just warm enough to heat the interior of your home. in my video, i hope to give you a rough idea of how a heliostat works. i see great promise for solar energy by ideas like this; solar energy is much more than just converting sunlight into electricity or charging batteries.

piggyback leafy green patches with solar panels

i notice that leafy produce requires ponderous amounts of water to grow. i wonder, is there any way to reduce this high water usage? perhaps if we install solar panels over the growing patches of leafy greens as a shade to reduce water evaporation, we could decrease overall water use.

if successful, we probably could extend our experiment to different vegetable/fruit farms. perhaps the farmers could even make a little extra cash by generating electricity!

the cost of solar home heaters is equal, if not cheaper, than traditional central furnaces that run on natural gas, heating oil or electricity. i created my own free standing solar air heater using basic supplies found at any local hardware store.

using only a few pennies worth of electricity a day to run a small fan, my solar air heater is emmission free and generates enough heat to keep my home warm throughout even the coldest of days. on days with full sunlight exposure, the solar air heater can heat air over 100 degrees f, keeping my home at a comfortable 65+ degrees all day long.

beer cans heat up the solar scene

there is a solar fad raging like fire across the united states and beer cans are the main component. washed and black-painted beer cans are being assembled together to create solar home heaters. this video shows a personal solar home heater created from a bunch of beer cans, wood and some foil-backed sticky tape. i would setttle for mirror heating myself, but beer or soda cans that can produce up to 175degree temperatures is certainly a fun alternative.

can fiber optics cables be used to transport solar light and heat?

can we use fiber optic cables to transport or transmit solar light and heat over long distances from hot deserts to cold weather areas? my point is that i think there is a great need for solar heat in areas where it is frequently foggy or rainy and more importantly cold like in the north. people are currently and intensively dependent on air polluting firewood to stay warm.

i am not a fiber optic specialist and i need to know if ultra concentrated solar energy can be transmitted through fiber optics in thick pipes over long distances. can fiber optics handle intense solar heat and light without melting?

there is a new technological field called photonics. i am not entirely familar with photons except that photons create light. i wonder about the heat itself that go in hand with light riding on photon flow. i am not completely sure about the potential of photonics to transmit light and heat together through fiber optics over long distances. photonics are generally used for signal technology like computers and communications but i often wonder about energy technology as well.

can solar heat be transmitted through special fiber optics to distant places where it is cold?

i know that fiber optics transmit light but i wonder about heat as well. solar energy is at its most efficient when heat from sunlight is utilized directly instead of being converted into trickles of electrical juices. reflect sunlight to heat indoors at the shady back sides of houses that face to the north is one good example which i am using already. it can be aluminum foil or glassless mirrors made of special treated aluminum, like durabright patented by alcoa, and things like that.

i also wonder about whether fiber optics can carry vast amounts of sun heat captured in the deserts to the colder climates during winters? or can special reflectors be able to reflect infrared heat without the glare of the sunlight?? why are we so overfocused on photovoltaics and inverters alone? think reflection and concentration! not just passive photovoltaics and unnecessary inverters and batteries that cost too much for our tax credits that will go only to the wealthy…

amplifying the sun with aluminum reflectors

i boosted battery capacity in my solar porch lights by adding an aluminum reflectors to double sunlight on the pv chip on top of my solar porch lights. why are we still ignoring concentrated solar power for utility scale purposes as well as retail solar products? we can add aluminum reflectors to boost photovoltaic performance by two, three or even four times. i don’t have the stats but there are none whatsoever anywhere, anyway. why is aluminum the most neglected metal around?? environmentalists seem to favor coal over aluminum for investment purposes. i just don’t get it… any enlightenment, anybody?
