diesel vegetable oil
american restaurants produce around 3 billion gallons of used vegetable oil annually, and that waste could be powering your vehicle. by treating the vegetable oil waste, drivers can use the oil as fuel for their diesel engines. decreasing our use of traditional fuel has obvious benefits, and vegetable oil is just one alternative that’s slowly rising in the united states. the technology and fuel adaptation systems exist for different engines, so expect to see more vehicles and auto-manufacturers stressing vegetable oil, or “fry fuel,” in the near future. if those 3 billion gallons of vegetable oil waste could be converted into fuel, nearly 1 percent of the country’s oil consumption would be offset. it may not sound like much, but that shift would provide environmental benefits and possibly spur other alternative fuel use.
