to be able to commercilize bev’s and phev’s at the 20 m level within five years as called for on this web site, solar charging in public venues will be required. otherwise, the utility industry’s current occassional offering of ‘reduced rates for ev charging” will necessarily be soon replaced by “time of day” premium rates, not unlike “demand charges” currently experienced by non-residential buildings in most utlity service terrtories. this will be facilitated by the very advances most of us have called for: the “smart grid” and “smart meters”. – r. schoen, 14 june 2010
