]]>
i would like to encourage the opening of more bioprocessing facilities for hemp. there is so much use for the plant and it is all being concentrated on cbd. while that is great and all the plant has much more to offer. it is one of the most sustainable plants you can grow to have such a high yield of biomass material. it should be used to its fullest potential because it also has a fast maturity and turn over rate to help sequestrate co2 emissions out of the air. it needs the least amount of water, pesticides, and fertilizers then any other plant used for this reasoning. it can subsequently be used for all of our plastics (single use/long term) and countless other materials including hempcrete. it is the most practical alternative choice of a plant to use for biomaterials and for biofuel and action should be taken to the fullest accountability to make this happen.

the aim of this interview is to educate the general population about industrial hemp, its benefits, and its uses, specifically hempcrete to be used in sustainable construction.

truly green building materials //www.getitdoneaz.com/story/truly-green-building-materials/ thu, 29 sep 2011 15:29:21 +0000 http://dpetrov.2create.studio/planet/wordpress/truly-green-building-materials/ i would like to bring to your attention to a green, renewable, sustainable building technology: hemp concrete. please visit www.hemp-technologies.com to see the benefits of this technology, such as strong insulators, effective exteriors and even transportation solutions. hemp is the foundation of sustainablility.

lime hemp is a great material.  in terms of low energy construction that means low energy and use.  building in this way means you can keep energy usage down and it is excellent in terms of embodied carbon because the hemp absorbs co2 when it grows.  the walling structure is negative carbon.

the hemp used has a very low narcotic content and is fully licensed by the government to be grown in the uk.

it is also an insulating walling material where the structural strength comes from the timber frame and the hemp lime creates the bulk of the wall which does the insulation.

please tell everyone you know to ask their u.s. rep to support hr1831, the industrial hemp farming act! see www.votehemp.com for the latest developments.

hemp oil as a versatile and sustainable construction tool //www.getitdoneaz.com/story/hemp-oil-as-a-versatile-and-sustainable-construction-tool/ mon, 17 jan 2011 12:30:38 +0000 http://dpetrov.2create.studio/planet/wordpress/hemp-oil-as-a-versatile-and-sustainable-construction-tool/ hemp has been uses for thousands of years by mankind and until last century in the united states it was common place. farmers could benefit easily cause it grows like a weed and needs no pesticide or fertilizer. there are many products that could be made from it that would support many new jobs and industries. we have no idea how it fits into our ecosystem because it has been exempt from environmental impact studies from the dea.

farmers in many states are ready to start growing it here in the u.s.. farmers in canada are now growing and profiting from it. here is an example of fiber usage and benefits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb9teck_hy4 hemp oil was replaced with petroleum oil in paints after it was banned in the mid 1930’s. ben franklin use hemp oil based ink. if we are trying to move from petroleum based products hemp is essential. it can be burned as a bio fuel if necessary.

one acre of hemp can save 4.1 acres of trees in fiber production. that statistic is from the usda.

birdseed used to contain 50% hempseed. the birds would eat those first. what impact did this have on bird health and appetite for pests?

here is a video on hempcrete housing. hundreds have been build in europe and studies show the walls actually absorb co2. http://bcove.me/mq4q659c

build healthy, energy saving homes using industrial hemp and lime //www.getitdoneaz.com/story/build-healthy-energy-saving-homes-using-industrial-hemp-and-lime/ tue, 04 jan 2011 12:52:46 +0000 http://dpetrov.2create.studio/planet/wordpress/build-healthy-energy-saving-homes-using-industrial-hemp-and-lime/ our company has built the first 3 permitted hempcrete homes in usa and an office extension in canada in 2010 with many more ihemp/lime building projects coming in 2011/12

2.5 acres of ihemp will provide the insulation for an average size home and grows in 12-14 weeks.

hempcrete walls are vapor permeable, locking in co2 when in the field and continuing to sequester co2 for years after the house is complete, thereby improving indoor air quality for residents.
