the mcginley ranch is an 80,000 acre expanse of native grasslands and waterways dotted with windmills, solar-powered wells and thousands of bison. the ranch, which is part of the ted turner institute of ecoagriculture, spans the state line between nebraska and south dakota and rests on top of the ogallala aquifer. in september 2022, i was fortunate enough to live on the ranch for a weekend and learn about the management practices the ranchers use to mimic natural land cycles, take care of the environment, and still make a profit. <\/p>\n
