{"id":11976,"date":"2019-03-01t16:16:33","date_gmt":"2019-03-01t16:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dpetrov.2create.studio\/planet\/wordpress\/how-the-sunrise-movement-pressures-politicians-to-fight-climate-change\/"},"modified":"2019-03-01t16:16:33","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01t16:16:33","slug":"sunrise-movement-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/\/www.getitdoneaz.com\/story\/sunrise-movement-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"how the sunrise movement pressures politicians to fight climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>by brock hall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>last week, a video of children pleading with sen. dianne feinstein, d-cal., to back the green new deal resolution went viral on twitter. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sunrisemvmt\/status\/1099075460649107458\">the video<\/a>, which now has about 10 million views, was posted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunrisemovement.org\/\">sunrise movement<\/a>, an environmental activist organization consisting mostly of young people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>while feinstein made it clear that she thought the group\u2019s goals were unrealistic, she released a statement saying she had her own climate change resolution she was going to release soon, but acknowledged their \u201cspirited discussion.\u201d others have criticized sunrise for only posting an edited version of the video on twitter at first, which some considered misleading.<\/p>\n<p>it\u2019s not the first time the group has made headlines.&nbsp;at the end of 2018, they staged a sit-in in house democrat\u2019s offices to demand action on climate change and many attribute this action as part of the reason&nbsp;rep. alexandria ocasio-cortez, d-n.y., introduced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/02\/11\/whats-actually-green-new-deal-democrats\/\">green new deal proposal<\/a> in february. &nbsp;
