about 100 feet below eight states in the high plains region lies a massive amount of fresh water. the ogallala aquifer is larger than the state of california and the life source for farming in the region. when there isn’t enough rainwater, farmers pump water out of the ground from the aquifer to irrigate their crops however, the aquifer is being depleted faster than rainwater can refill it. if irrigation practices continue, the aquifer could run dry. in an effort to save the aquifer, farmers turn to technology to make their farming more efficient.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
