since its launch in 2016, the capital solar projects has allowed the george washington university to be 50% solar powered. in order to generate renewable energy, approximately 243,000 solar panel from three sites in north carolina have been used to absorb and convert energy from the sun to electricity, which is then transmitted through the power grid into the dc region.

according to gw today, “the solar power helps all three institutions reduce their carbon footprint, eliminating approximately 60,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year compared to conventional electricity. this is equivalent to taking roughly 12,500 cars off the road.”

in an effort to reduce carbon footprints, gw partners with duke energy renewables, american university, and the gwu hospital to incorporate solar power into its facilities.

[5196,4910
3500,3716,3717,3226,9,10,591

post-12626","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-past-storyfest","category-renewable-energy","tag-american-university","tag-capital-partners-project","tag-duke-energy-renewables","tag-north-carolina","tag-renewable-energy","tag-solar-energy","tag-storyfest
