{"id":13077,"date":"2014-11-17t18:07:11","date_gmt":"2014-11-17t18:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dpetrov.2create.studio\/planet\/wordpress\/simple-car-wash-the-waterless-car-wash-solution\/"},"modified":"2023-02-28t18:43:39","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28t18:43:39","slug":"simple-car-wash-the-waterless-car-wash-solution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/\/www.getitdoneaz.com\/story\/simple-car-wash-the-waterless-car-wash-solution\/","title":{"rendered":"simple car wash: the waterless car wash solution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>inspiration can strike any time or place.<\/p>\n<p>taylor mitcham, a senior in mining engineering, was not looking to start a business last winter. her car needed a wash but as a busy college student, mitcham didn\u2019t want to waste time sitting in a tunnel car wash. however, she didn\u2019t have a hose at her apartment to clean it herself. she became determined to find a more cost and time efficient way to clean her car.<\/p>\n<p>mitcham knew about waterless carwashes from living in los angeles and decided to test the concept out for herself in state college. she ordered samples of different waterless carwash solutions and when she found one that didn\u2019t freeze in the cold state college winter, she tried it on her car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201ci was about halfway done and seeing some really good results when i paused and thought \u2018man, i wish someone could just come here and do this for me,\u2019\u201d said mitcham.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>the idea was simple. by using only the biodegradable carwash solution and some microfiber cloths, mitcham could provide clients with an affordable, scratch-free wash and wax for their vehicles wherever they were parked. the business would save her customers time and save the environment from the chemical runoff and wasted water of a traditional carwash.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>in march, mitcham took her idea for the simple car wash to the free consulting hours offered by&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sbdc.psu.edu\/\">penn state\u2019s small business development center (sbdc)<\/a>&nbsp;and the nittany consulting group in kunkle lounge to get opinions on the feasibility of her business idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201ci thought taylor\u2019s idea was great,\u201d said linda feltman, sbdc senior business consultant for student entrepreneurship. \u201cshe saw a need and figured out how to solve a problem in a way that works for a tangible, hands-on business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>encouraged, mitcham began working with the sbdc toward launching her business. she credits the sbdc with helping her figure out problems about additional licenses, tax information and whether to hire people as independent contractors or actual employees. the sbdc also connected mitcham with local businesses and organizations such as clearwater conservancy to benefit from simple car wash\u2019s operation 1 for 100 initiative, where for every 100 gallons of water saved by her waterless car washes, mitcham will donate a dollar to a partnered cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201ci created operation 1 for 100 because i wanted to become more a part of the centre county community, not just as a business but also as a citizen. it\u2019s good to give back,\u201d said mitcham.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>inspiration can strike any time or place. taylor mitcham, a senior in mining engineering, was not looking to start a business last winter. her car needed a wash but as a busy college student, mitcham didn\u2019t want to waste time sitting in a tunnel car wash. however, she didn\u2019t have a hose at her apartment&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9113,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4895],"tags":[3388,3389,3390],"storyfest_categories":[],"class_list":["post-13077","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-transportation","tag-penn-state-taylor-mitcham","tag-simple-car-wash","tag-waterless-car-wash"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- this site is optimized with the yoast seo plugin v23.4 -
