biodiesel and comparable fuels made <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idustre5196hb20090210?pagenumber=2&amp;virtualbrandchannel=0\">entirely from the digestion processes of algae<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>two years ago, algae-baed fuel production was just starting out. the industry was speculative, and a few venture capitalists dominated the field. now the department of energy is releasing a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.favstocks.com\/department-of-energy-announces-57m-for-small-businesses-in-phase-iii-xlerator-program-algal-biofuels-advanced-vehicle-technologies-and-fuel-cells-included\/1624809\/\">$57 million tidal wave of funding<\/a> for 33 small businesses specializing in alternative fuel production, among them algal biodiesel and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/environment\/2010\/feb\/13\/algae-solve-pentagon-fuel-problem\">algae-based jet fuels for the pentagon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blogs\/3-algae6.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>algae is just one of many potential investments for the forward-thinking venture capitalist. some bioengineers are even aiming for the holy grail of the so-called \u201cthird generation biofuels\u201d &#8211;
