(mykah scott)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>henry ford<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehenryford.org\/collections-and-research\/digital-collections\/artifact\/242593\"> visited the tuskegee institute<\/a> multiple times, where he helped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehenryford.org\/explore\/blog\/three-trips-to-tuskegee-with-the-fords-and-the-fair-lane\">dedicate the carver museum<\/a>, learned from, and developed a friendship with carver himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>carver&#8217;s impact on the ford motor company was primarily through his research and innovations in agriculture, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsav.com\/now\/how-george-washington-carver-and-henry-ford-saw-color-and-changed-culture\/\">particularly regarding soybeans<\/a> and peanuts. carver&#8217;s work led to the development of new uses for these crops, including the creation of alternative materials such as plastics, lubricants, and fuels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>henry ford recognized the potential of carver&#8217;s research and collaborated with him to explore the possibilities of using agricultural products in the automotive industry. ford was particularly interested in finding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/this-day-in-history\/george-washington-carver-begins-experimental-project-with-henry-ford\">alternatives to traditional materials<\/a> like metal and rubber, which were in short supply and expensive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>carver&#8217;s work indirectly influenced the ford motor company by providing innovative solutions to material shortages and promoting the use of agricultural products in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>this art piece was created to pay homage to the significant impact of george washington carver on environmental sustainability as well as to highlight the friendship between him and henry ford. the images in this multimedia piece are from the tuskegee university archive that documented the relationship between carver and ford.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>george washington carver&#8217;s name may be more associated with agriculture than cars, but his friendship with henry ford is a corner of history worth preserving.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22213,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4919,7095,4895],"tags":[],"storyfest_categories":[],"class_list":["post-38862","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-agriculture","category-art","category-transportation"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- this site is optimized with the yoast seo plugin v23.4 -
