{"id":39860,"date":"2024-06-26t17:52:10","date_gmt":"2024-06-26t17:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"\/\/www.getitdoneaz.com\/?p=39860"},"modified":"2024-06-27t14:21:28","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27t14:21:28","slug":"lennox-yearwood-dceff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/\/www.getitdoneaz.com\/story\/lennox-yearwood-dceff\/","title":{"rendered":"reverend lennox yearwood, jr. discusses the need for liberation at the dc environmental film festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<iframe title=\"fighting for environmental liberation with reverend lennox yearwood\" allowtransparency=\"true\" height=\"150\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: none; min-width: min(100%, 430px);height:150px;\" scrolling=\"no\" data-name=\"pb-iframe-player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podbean.com\/player-v2\/?i=2xv7u-165155e-pb&#038;from=pb6admin&#038;share=1&#038;download=1&#038;rtl=0&#038;fonts=arial&#038;skin=f6f6f6&#038;font-color=auto&#038;logo_link=episode_page&#038;btn-skin=8bbb4e\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>the <a href=\"https:\/\/dceff.org\/\">environmental film festival in the nation\u2019s capital&nbsp;(dceff)<\/a> is a film event held annually in march that features over 100 films reaching over 30,000 people every year. the festival was launched in 1993 by flo stone, designed the programming to cover topics such as activism, conservation, discovery, and exploration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>according to their website, dceff\u2019s mission is to \u201cinform and inspire our community through the power of film to incite change and take action so that we can preserve our planet for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>on march 24, 2024, i attended the festival and met reverend lennox yearwood, jr., a community activist, who serves as a minister, and president and ceo of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopcaucus.org\/\">hip hop caucus<\/a>, a nonprofit organization founded on september 11, 2004, that enables young u.s. voters to participate and get involved in political activism through hip-hop music and culture. through the nonprofit organization, the hip hop caucus has influenced policies, held political officials responsible and accountable, and developed diverse, powerful movements to shape positive changes for the future of the united states.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4000\" height=\"3000\" src=\"\/\/www.getitdoneaz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/lennox-.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39865\" style=\"width:528px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">rev. yearwood poses with his certificate for winning the environmental champion award.
